Getting the word out

We’ve just finished our first Tuesday show. It’s tough to get people out mid-week, let alone in a freezing rain/snow/sleet storm!

Now we’re at the stage in the production when the reviews come out, and a big thanks to Pat Donnelly for coming out to the West Island for our Gala evening last Saturday, and for the wonderful review she gave us in today’s Montreal Gazette. We want to share this story with as many people as possible and good reviews make all the difference to a small theatre company.

One week down and two to go!

Well, we’ve done it! We’re up and running, and we’ve made it through our first week! The Gala was a huge success and a lovely evening all-around! We were thrilled to host Maxine and Doris at the Gala, two of the Veterans we met with at the Hudson Legion a few weeks back. Food, wine, dancing and a studio theatre filled with incredibly supportive friends and theatre patrons, what more could we ask for!

Today is a day off, then we start back up tomorrow!

Cue to Cue

We’re on set, about to start our first tech run. We finished cue to cue in a record 2 hours! For those who don’t know what a cue to cue is, it’s a stop and go run through of the show, going through every sound and lighting cue in the show.

We’ve got a dream team working behind the scenes, they are the real un-sung heroes of this show! Peter Vatsis (set and lighting designer) and his team have built the most beautiful set, Joyce Zogos has taken care of our props, Isabel Faia has created the soundscape for the show and Melanie Michaud and Kimiko Hache are busy making us look great, and Anne-Marie Pierre is brilliant as our Stage Manager! A big shout out and thank you to all of you who have been putting hours and hours in to making everything look so incredible!

That time when everything starts coming together

We’re entering that time in a production, when all of the elements are coming together and you can feel that buzz in the air. The time is coming to share this story with the public.

The women in the cast are in to test hairstyles, character names adorn the dressing room mirrors, the crew is in the theatre hanging lights, actors are being sent for fittings and scenes are busily being rehearsed and tweaked. There’s something in the air, that indescribable thing that we all live for… It’s a wonderful life!

The cast visits the Hudson Legion

We were so fortunate to sit down last night with four incredible Veterans at the Hudson Legion. They shared their experiences in the War, and gave us an incredible insight in to what it was like to live through those years.

In an effort to tell the story with as much integrity as possible, we thought it would be an amazing experience to hear, first hand, what it was like.

A Huge thank you to Linda, John, James and Clint, and the unbelievably generous Veterans that gave their time to speak to us.
